Women are funny. We pay money to allow a stranger to apply a hot waxy substance onto our skin with something resembling a popsicle stick. This stranger then presses a strip of cloth into the hot wax to stick to it. When the timing is right and only this stranger knows, they yank it off as hard and fast as possible for one reason only - to remove unwanted hair from our lip, chin, brows and other unmentionable locations. Don't even get me started about laser hair reduction! The good thing about laser, you have 5-7 treatments and you are done. With waxing it goes forever every 5-6 weeks! Why do we do this? It's a serious matter. To keep from shaving.
Most men would NEVER do that. Most men cannot understand why women would go through this torture to keep from shaving. Especially when these same women scream bloody murder while standing in a chair for their "men" to come kill a tiny little bug that is crawling slowly at a snail's pace across the floor. The purpose of this portion of our page is to give some specifics to you that YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN CONSIDERING WAXING and LASER HAIR REDUCTION.
Pharmaceutical Grade Products, i.e., Retin-A, Tretinoin, anything that is intended to remove layers of skin MUST BE CEASED at a minimum of 4-6 weeks prior to having areas WAXED or LASERED.If you have been shaving the hair must be allowed to grow out to a minimum of this ----- long to WAX.If you have NOT BEEN shaving trim the hair prior to your service to this same length as noted to WAX.
If you are considering LASER HAIR REMOVAL shave the night before or right before your treatment.
If you are on your menstrual cycle the pain may seem more intense than usual. While we do not have a problem providing this EITHER WAXING OR LASER during your cycle know that this can be more sensitive.It is a state law that there should be NO DOUBLE DIPPING in the WAX of the wooden stick, typically a popsicle type stick, into the wax pot for application. Doing so will contaminate the wax. We do not double dip!As this WAXING onr LASER service is continued - every 5-6 weeks; depending upon individual hair growth, some experience less pain and less hair growth. WAXING does NOT however, kill the stem cell that the follicle is growing from; whereas LASER will.If you are CONSIDERING LASER HAIR REMOVAL you must stop waxing as soon as this decision has been made. You can begin shaving but allow 5-6 weeks from your last waxing service to begin laser reduction.TANNING - You may tan AFTER WAXING services but would recommend using sunscreen protection as this will be more sensitive than other areas of the body not receiving waxing treatments. YOU MAY NOT TAN, SPRAY TAN, USE TANNING LOTIONS, or DEPILITORY CREAMS IF YOU ARE RECEIVING LASER.Hair grows in 3 stages therefore the only hair that is "WAXED" or "LASERED" will be the hair in a stage of growth; not dormant awaiting a stage of growth.WAXING pulls the hair follicle out or may break the hair off but the stem cell which feeds the follicle is not damaged. LASER hair reduction actually destroys the stem cell; the hair follicle has nothing to fee it and dies.If this is your first time at WAXING or LASER you may see some redness and be tender for at least 24 hours; varies from individual to individual depending upon the individual's pain tolerance level and reaction to edema.Depending upon the area we are treating we may vary the type of WAX. This is not unusual for the type of hair on brows or face can be different or less course than the type of hair in the bikini line area.The COLOR OF HAIR has no bearing on the ability to WAX the hair. The COLOR OF HAIR DOES HAVE A BEARING ON LASER hair reduction. The laser light targets the amount of melanin in the hair shaft. Therefore, not all hair is a candidate for laser hair reduction.
