We have been in business almost five years and have changed immensely from our beginnings in 2004. We recently were honored to receive two awards in 2008, Best Spa and Salon in Downtown McKinney, from the Dallas Morning News Neighbors publication. Also, Best of McKinney 2008 Spas award, from the U.S. Local Business Association. Thank you for your part in accomplishing these awards.
I am honored to work amongst the most incredible collection of individuals who genuinely care for those who cross our threshhold. My "tag" line for the spa is, "...Keepers of the inn...". One Sunday the message by our church pastor, was about the story Jesus told of the good Samaritan - which everyone knows the familiar story and it's representation. However, he gave us a glimpse - as God can, of something we may have missed in this story. When the Jewish man had been left on the road, beaten and no one helped - similar to a recent occurrence we saw on the national news in America - the unexpected help came from a Samaritan - the only one to stop. He helped the beaten man and took him to an inn. Giving the innkeeper two denari (or silver coins), asked him to take care of the beaten man because he had to leave and that when he returned through the town if he owed him more he would pay him later. The innkeeper had now been paid and could have chosen to not help the beaten man - the man who paid him wasn't there to insure the beaten man was cared for. One of the messages Mike was sharing about this story is that we are all "keepers of the inn". It is part of His purpose for us while on this earth to help those in need. I realized as I heard Mike share this, how blessed I am to have this staff at Essence of Eve Day Med Spa who are also, "keepers of the inn." As a business owner it is comforting to know that even when I cannot physically be at the spa, they still provide the best for those who come here needing help - physically, spiritually or emotionally. Like the innkeeper in Jesus' day, they are paid by money but I believe they work for someone other than me...the reason why they provide the best of care - whether I am here or not...they are truly "...keepers of the inn."
Several have asked how did I come up with the spa name, "Essence of"Eve?" Eve literally interpreted means life, life-giving. "Essence of Eve" is a name chosen through my passion for the spa - to gather an incredible "pool" of gifted and talented individuals who genuinely care and what I believe as inspired from above. In the midst of the spa's remodeling, I continually was battling an onslaught of self doubt that I was doing the right thing by opening a spa in 2004. I had prayed asking for a sign - a much needed sign. I was continually here onsight, monitoring the renovation process at ridiculous hours. One day I opened an old closet door - one that I had not opened the whole time the project was underway. There in the bottom of this old closet floor I moved old paint cans and very old Christmas decorations to find two rusted, metal "E's" laying together, hidden in that dark closet. This was my sign, my answer - for I had already named the spa Essence of Eve! I love to share this with those who ask. You can see the "E's" hanging on a wall in the spa. Several clients and patients have asked to purchase them - however, they will never be for sale.
